Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulator trial
(BEAT OSA)

The hypoglossal nerve stimulator has been in commercial use in the management of OSA for over 10 years internationally. This is a world first multi centre Australian trial that will test the latest unit, which stimulates both hypoglossal nerves simultaneously, and is powered externally without the use of an implanted battery or worn power source. 

Inclusion Criteria for screening

Please note this is a simplified inclusion criteria used for initial screening.
Meeting the below criteria DOES NOT guarantee entry into the study


1. Failed CPAP - non-compliant, intolerant or refusing use
2. BMI ≤ 32
3. Age ≥ 21
4. Moderate to Severe OSA on sleep study (AHI ≥15)

* THERE ARE OTHER INCLUSION CRITERIA THAT CAN ONLY BE IDENTIFIED AT THE INITIAL SCREENING APPOINTMENT
